![]() The MURS is a licensed service that operates in the same band, but allows the users additional abilities. ![]() The GMRS is an unlicensed service, that can be used by anyone. This would be particularly problimatic in the GMRS/MURS band (I think that's what its called, but I could be wrong). ![]() Reason being that RF propagates much farther at higher altitudes, and since most of the unlicensed bands are intended for use by devices that stay near the ground, using them above the legal altitude limits could cause interference to a large number of people. ![]() As I understand things, most of the unlicensed bands have restrictions on transmission above certain alttitudes, 60ft is what I've most often seen. ![]()
